New jewellery range on the website - "Under The Moon"
Posted by NORA BENHAYYI

Not only is the beginning of the new year but also the beginning of the new decade!!! This time of the year is always a time for reflection as well as a time to gather (or put into practice) new dreams, ambitions or any other "new year resolutions" that we set up to achieve for the coming year and beyond.
Having said that, it felt appropiate to launch a collection with mystical and magical vibes. A slightly new direction compared to what's already available at TheBlackWardrobe, but still retaining its characterist dark/Gothic allure.
Inspired by Esoterism, witchcraft and the Supernatural, this romantic and witchy collection features witchy icy moonstones (milky-white gemstones known for their moon-like silvery appearance), creepy cute flying creatures of the night such as bats, dreamy crescent moons that have a romantic vintage vibe, and magical celestial suns and stars.
One of the key elements of designing this collection was to use crystals to add some magical spark to the jewellery. People usually love crystals because they're pretty and they reflect light in such an interesting way that it creates some beautiful colour effects that seem supernatural!
I decided to use moonstone gems because their neutral (milky-white) colour would be appealing to a broad customer base and also, being named after the Moon itself, that gives them a mysterious dark and Gothic allure that I find deeply appealing.
This takes me to the next point. What are moonstones?
Despite their name, moonstones come in several colours! However the most loved variety is the clear/milky-white colour with an eerie silvery/blue reflection (this is called "Rainbow moonstone" - which is the one I've used in my jewellery). Apparently, the ancient Romans named it as such because they believed it was formed from frozen moonlight!
The stronger the blue reflection, the rarer these stones become and thus very expensive!
According to Wikipedia, this natural gemstones is a sodium potassium aluminium silicate ((Na,K)AlSi3O8) of the feldspar group that displays a pearly and opalescent schiller. An alternative name is hecatolite.
This mystical stone is associated with many things but mainly with "new beginnings", with healing and calming properties, success and good fortune in love and business matters.
Because of all these properties associated with this gemstone, I thought that they'd make a great new addition to the range at this time, right when we are about to start not only a new year but also a new decade.
Click here to see this small collection! I hope you like it as much as I do!
